A native of Russia, Ilya Kovalchuk was originally drafted to the NHL by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 1st round of the 2001 entry draft. He has appeared in 460 NHL games during his career, notching 242 goals and adding 258 assists along with 396 penalty minutes. The 26 year old right wing has played 74 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins this season, totalling 36+41=77 with 100 PIM.
